Has anyone seen these? Would they make a useful addition to our Ancient studies? The clip online looks kind of goofy, but it’s so chopped up it’s hard to make a real evaluation.
We have all of them and while parts are goofy, we love them. They give a great visual of the area and the history is accurate and from a Christian perspective.
We watched our first one last week about Greece, and my two older ones (almost 7 and almost 6) enjoyed it, even the goofy parts. They were a little too goofy for me but if they are learning, it’s great! We watched it before we read certain chapters which I thought was helpful because he already had a picture in his mind of the places/architecture, etc. We also get them from our library, maybe you could do that so you could preview one before buying any? We’ve enjoyed these also. Infact the goofiness of Dave is one of the many things my boys enjoyed about the series. It really helps lift the mood, when it is otherwise serious – especially when dealing with (for example) such things as the gladiatorial bloodshed in “Rome If You Want To”.
I have not noticed nudity in any of Dave’s DTH DVD’s. The only area where there might possibly be an issue is any artwork or statues, and those are tasteful if they are included.
Anyone know which one would go with Module 5 (1550-1850). I saw one that says American History 1-6 and 1-12, but then others with more specific titles like Columbus, oh, I can’t remember what else it says. I’d like to watch just even one for the time period we’re in, but unsure which one.
Thanks, Rachel. Beware of Globe Trekker (also on Netflix). I got the one on Germany and as the kids and I were watching, she went to a nude beach! Shocked me! So now it is NO more Globe Trekker. I’ll check into these 4 on Netflix, Rachel.
