Has anybody used online drum lessons before? I found some when I googled but have no idea what to look for. Ds11 is interested in learning but I just can’t do another commitment out this Fall. He reads music and plays piano pretty well. Thanks for any suggestions:) Blessings, Gina
– but there is some info on making a cheap “drum kit” from Guitar Hero Drums…. I’ve seen instructions for the Wii version paired with a MAC, and I think for the XBox version paired with Windows. (Of course we happen to have the Wii version and Windows – haven’t found instructions for that combo… my luck…
I take online violin lessons and I love it. I can email my teacher whenever I have questions and I get to do Skype lessons at least twice for each book or more if I want to pay for more private lessons. I don’t know about drums, but love the online lessons.
My older son has recently been learning drums from one of the members of our church worship band. They spend about twenty minutes, half hour together after service on Sunday, then my ds practices on the church drum kit the rest of the week. If he decides to stick with it we’ll look into getting him more formal lessons, but for now, seeing as he’s here at the church building with me every week day, we’ll continue to use the drum kit here.
My son just started “Drums for the Absolute Beginner”. It’s a book that came with a DVD. It looks really good. It’s by Alfred. Pete Sweeney is the teacher. He demonstrates what’s in the book. It’s very clear so far. I can’t remember if I got it at Amazon or CBD. I just did a quick check–you can get it at either place. Looks cheaper at Amazon.
Thanks for the tips! I’ll look into the book, and online lessons if I could get a good referral!
Actually, our neighbor (who my son plays at their house all the time) plays drums for his church’s worship band. I’ve thought of asking him but don’t want him to feel pressured…they really like having my son over and are so generous already. He works from home w/his and wife’s business so could be perfect….just not sure if I should ask:) And our other neighbor plays drums and now goes to our church…both live right across the street! I just know that people are busy and if you’r not actively giving lessons it could seem like a lot of work for the amount of $$? Not sure.
Thanks for the input:) Gina
