This is a GREAT post.  Now warning, it’s not a special diet budget, it’s only for a family of five, it uses metric measurements – some prices may be less than what you’d have to pay, some more, but I thought it was cool, I thought it was a good challenge to get me thinking about a worst case scenario (not really worst case, but if we needed to cut our budget in half – what would I do).  I hope it’s helpful to some of you!

This is what she WOULD do if her budget was only $250

IF anyone can actually read this post – will you please reply – it seems to be stuck or unrepliable.

If you mean your post here on the SCM discussion forum, I am reading it just fine. If you mean the the post at Keeper of the Home, my journey there went without a hitch, too–as readable as anything! I just typed in what you wrote (no caps, no spaces) and arrived at the correct destination.

Looks like a good article, I just skimmed it right now, but I’m eager to read more thoroughly and am looking forward to her next post.

    Thanks!

This is the third time I posted this message – the previous two times I used the hyperlink and I can see the post, but I can’t reply to it – and I couldn’t fathom that this post could be on the board for half a day and not have a single comment!  Kiss  Not with all of the grocery budgeting discussions we have on here!  Glad you could get through!

I am checking out that article. I am going to try to make my own yogurt using the recipe on there to save money. I pay $3.49 for a quart of Stonyfield organic plain and I can make my own quart for the cost of $1.50 a quart of organic milk, bought by the gallon of course. We use 2 quarts a week. This would save $15 per month. Thanks.

Wow, that gives me something to think about.  We have to follow a special diet (Gluten free, dairy free and and allergies to tomatoes, eggs, peanuts and oranges) so I’m not sure we could ever get to $250, but maybe we could spend a bit less using some of her suggestions.  I’m eager to see what she says about special diets in the next post.

@Rebekahy, Sometimes our automatic spam filter gets a little over active. It flagged your first two attempts, which makes them so only you can see them until one of us approves. If it ever happens again you can contact us and we’ll take care of it.

Thanks Doug, I did use the contact form and Jordan fixed this post up for me, including the link so people could go straight to the story – along with deleting the other two posts I made.  I was very excited to share it!  Wink

The next post in her series is up – it tells how she would stretch the budget further and how she would save money on a special diet – GAPS, gluten free, etc…
