I can really relate to what you are going through but I have no doubt that the Lord will give you a clear answer in His time. I can relate to wanting to be a member and not a constant visitor, but that may just be how it is for now until you receive your answer from the Lord.

BTW, I do have to hand it to this church for being upfront about membership responsibility/expectations, many churches do not let their new members/converts know ahead of time their position on such matters. At least you know what is being asked of you now (and will be from the moment you choose to join) than to find out later.

As far as the mid-week gathering goes….I would have a hard time with that (that’s just me, I do not expect anyone else to feel as I do, nor am I judging). My dh and I do not drink, even occasionally, for a variety of reasons. Having been a part of a church where the youth drank heavily, I would not be able to do that as an adult, with our fellowship. Ever since we had our dc we have felt a deep need to be “at ourselves” at all times (cold medicine is it for us, LOL), so that would be something that I could not participate in, even if it meant remaining a visitor. Like I said, that is just me, and I know plenty of people who enjoy wine with dinner occasionally and I honestly believe it is not a hinderance to their relationship with the Lord or their dc. I just know that would not be the case for us.

Blessings to you as you sort through this. May the Lord give you His peace.
