I tried to do a search but didn’t really come up with anything. I was wondering what books you like to read during this fall season. Appreciate the ideas!!

I like two that may be to low a reading level, but I enjoyed reading them aloud to my youngest when she was 7/8:
The Courage of Sarah Noble,
Squanto, Friend of the Pilgrims,
and am drawing a blank after those right now but I know there are others – hopefully, other folks will chime in.

Johnny Appleseed by Lindbergh (nice illustrations and poetry about his life). It’s a picture book but detailed and I think any age would enjoy.

The recipe at the end of HowTo Make An Apple Pie is fabulous. In fact, I copied it and use that recipe for ALL my pie crusts!
We also like Steven Kellogg’s Johnny Appleseed ( extremely tall tale), but we love all Steven Kellogg books.

There are some great ideas here (click on Harvest Time curriculum): http://weefolkart.com/content/homeschool-companion-guides
The curriculum is designed for preK/K, but many of the crafts would work for handicrafts for older DC and the picture books are great choices. A note of caution, I love the Pumpkin Circle book for it’s amazing photographs, but it has a line about Mother Nature or something similar that I like to change as I’m reading. I haven’t read all of the books, but I love the focus on nature and gardening.
Another favorite that I didn’t see mentioned is Thanksgiving: A Harvest Celebration. Thanks again ladies and HOLLYS, I appreciate your christian alternative. I searched first for those and sadly only came up with a few and I want to try to have at least 10 or more seasonal books to read each month. I am getting most of them from the library and if we like them I will order my own copy.
