We used this resource last year-Earth Science, I believe. I have mixed feelings about the text. There are not many experiments and the experiments that we did we had my husband help often; he is a hydrologist and was able to explain and teach about the maps. Without this help, i think it might have been difficult for me. The text is quite dense, and written on a high reading level, I believe. The pictures were really good and the concepts explained very well, though. We did not use any of the reviews or tests designed for the book-though we did do a few of the review questions at the end of the readings as these seemed o.k. The tests were a bit over board, in my estimation.
I had one son who really enjoyed the book and another one who didn’t. The one who enjoyed the book has a better reading comprehension, and probably a more interest in science in general.
Would I use this book again? Yes, I think I would and may look at their Chemistry for next year. I did like the integration of God and this was a wonderful addition! It was weaved into the text and not just dropped into a page, so it pertained to the concept they were reading about and added a Christian perspective, yet very scientific.
If you have other questions, you can email me or leave a message and I will get back to you. Incidentially, I do have the Earth Science pilot book(s) that I didn’t sell and would be very happy to send them to you for the cost of postage.
I just looked on their website since I too am looking at upper level science. I saw that they teach from an old earth standpoint. Just an FYI. I know Christians embrace both views, just wanted to make sure you were aware in case you did not agree with their stance.
