Since we have to break up the lessons in the SCM guide each day(to shorten them) it is the end of our school year and we are not done with the module. Should I continue this next year BEFORE starting Module 5 or just go ahead and start the new module and re visit Module 4 when we come back around to it? Thanks for any advice. Wendy

I would definitely keep going (and have!). We do that for many of our subjects. I don’t count my year by finished books. I have a general idea of number of days and we just call it and pick up again when we restart. My boys especially do that for their math books. One son has about 3 weeks left of Saxon 8/7 and then maybe we’ll move to TT…. I went to Math Mammoth and it looks like it stops at 6?), the other son has about 15 weeks before we switch books. (We just started our 2011-2012 year)

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Wendy, thank you for asking this question and tandc93, thank you for answering it. We’ve had such a hard year this year and so we didn’t finish our module 4 and i’ve been so stressed out about what to do. I don’t know why it didn’t dawn on me to just pick up where we left off from last year and then move on.

Every summer since I began homeschooling, I have always continued anything left unfinished. In fact, I should say that I school year round and take frequent breaks because of this. 🙂 it just makes life less stressful for me as we take our time with things. My kids and I are still doing a module too, and will probably not be done till August because we are going slow. They are learning the material very well this way. Then we will start the next Module, hopefully in September. 😉
