I’m trying to make some decisions for next year and have some questions . . . this is probably just the beginning of posts with questions.
Noeo Science was mentioned on a different thread, so I looked it up. It looks wonderful. Does anyone have any experience with this program? Convince me that I should or should not use it.
I will have a DD in the 4th grade. She’ll be 9/10 next school year. She struggles greatly with reading. She can read Dick and Jane books and the 1st 2 or 3 Pathway readers on her own. Because of the reading struggle, writing is a struggle, too. She likes to write but hardly anthing is spelled correctly. She hates to read but loves to be read to. She loves to do expirements and enjoys science.
My other DD will be 2nd grade (in words only!!). She will be 7/8 next school year. She is advanced in everything. She reads on a 5th grade level now, is in the 3rd grade math book, 2nd level of All About Spelling, does history/Bible/geo and science with her sister.
So, which level of Noeo would I start with? Should I just do the first level and work through all of them even though oldest DD will be 4th grade? Or do I do level 2, even though younger DD will be 2nd grade? I don’t want it to be too easy for my oldest, though she struggles; or too hard for my youngest, though she is advanced!!
My kids are 4th and 6th grade so we are doing level 2. Your kids probably need to do level 1 since your second child is younger.
I chose Physics because the subjects seemed to be more the kind of things my kids like. The Biology was a lot of the stuff we talk about at our Nature Center program.
Altogether we like it, there have been a couple of things we just went over quickly because it was over our head but my kids like the internet links (games and quizzes). There are 2 books scheduled as readers to read together.
The kids can choose to draw or right or both about each lessons.
I like the fact that you cover many different topics in one year.
I was just looking at this last night! I remember reading something on their site (maybe in the FAQs) that said to go with their reading level. My DC are farther apart in age, so we’d definitely have to go with 2 levels…I don’t think it will work for us, but it does look really good.
