Anyone use Noeo Science? I haven’t heard of it before, but it certainly looks interesting from their website. I will have a 5th and 4th grader next year (and a 1st grader, but he can just be included in our nature studies). Can I combine? Is it from a young earth Bible perspective? Is it decidedly Christian? CM friendly? How teacher intensive is it? We have done lots of study on nature, but nothing else formal in the Sciences. My boys love Science.

We’re using Noeo Bio II this year. You can definitely combine your kids. We are – with my 5th grader and my 1st grader this year. My 1st grader loves Science, so he’s very interested in it and not too young for it. I already have the curriculum to do Chem II next year.

Each day we read the Science readings (that are well spelled-out in the teacher’s manual) as a family when we do our other group subjects. Some weeks there is an experiment, which we save for some afternoon when other subjects are done.

I have been looking at this also, Dawn. I’m interested in Physics I for my 7yo sons. Our library only has two of the books and several of them are quite expensive, even used ($30). We’ve never used a science kit like this and my question is whether there is any advantage to it over simply studying the subjects yourself. One of my sons is excited to do the biology I kit but in reality we never STOP doing biology around here with his great love of animals and I can’t imagine the kit has something in it we haven’t covered already. My other son is more interested in physics and while my husband is an expect in the topic, I’m not. My question for those who have used Noeo before: Is there really something value added by buying the kit vs just working on the topics ourselves? Is it more than a booklist that is planned out plus the Young Scientists Club kits? (I do have Building Foundations of Scientific Understanding that we’ll start this summer or fall…our first ‘real’ science.) Thanks.

I just started physics 2 with my ds8yo. It is not too much for him. He loves science. I don’t require all of the writing. The readings are short and interesting. They keep his attention. Be sure to follow some of the Internet links…we’ve really enjoyed those!

Well, I really want something that is planned out for me in a systematic approach. I am realizing that I am just not going to get to Science if I don’t get something that lays everything out for me. Love the discussion. It helps me to talk everything out.

Dawn that is exactly the reason Noeo works for me, the fact that it is all planned out. I also like the diversity.

We haven’t love every topic and all the experiments but all together it was good enough that I ordered again for next year.

    Jawgee,

Did you use Bio II with both of them or did you buy any of the Bio I kit?

    Thanks

I do Bio II with both of them! My 1st grader, though, really loves science, so that makes it easier to combine the both of them.

Thanks for the info! I have been thinking about using it next year. The price is higher, but I know the kids would love the hands on, and I like that it is plannec. Will have to keep a look out at my HS Conference in a few weeks. Used book sales are my friend 🙂

Check homeschoolclassifieds.com, too. I bought Bio II on there last year and Chem II on there just a few weeks ago.
