    I just read that the founder of Project Gutenberg, Michael S. Hart, has died. He is also renowned as the inventor of the eBook back in 1971. What was the first work he typed into a computer and then transmitted over a network? The Declaration of Independence.

    There is a nicely-written obituary detailing his life and work on the Project Gutenberg website.
