    Hi everyone!

    Okay I’m a bit of a worry wart 🙂 but…

I had my second child 6 weeks ago and she hasn’t started social smiling yet. My son began at 1 month old. Is this something to be concerned about? When did your babies start social smiling?

    Thanks!

Our #3 didn’t really start smiling very much until she was closer to 2 months. I remember I was kinda worried about it at the time as well…I’d say give it another couple of weeks before you get too concerned about it. =)

Also, keep in mind that all children will develop at different times.  My oldest was running at 9 months and my 2nd oldest didn’t walk until after she was a year old.  Talk about concern…lol

BTW, congratulations on your new little one!  =)

Congrats on the new little one, what a blessing….I would not worry yet either, my twin girls developed at totally different times I would wait a few more weeks before being too concerned and even then I would not worry until something is proven wrong…God bless and enjoy the little one, don’t worry….Linda

I just did a litle research where I read up to 10 weeks is normal for a first smile, and if a baby is not smiling by 3 months then get it checked, so you have time yet to just relax and enjoy and observe, Linda

Hmmm… Okay I’ll try not to worry. (Fat chance I’m afraid but I got the worrying gene honest.) So did anyone else’s baby smile this late? (hmmm… This is me not worrying – hahahaha…) (And thanks everybody!!)

I am a worrier too, and so this was easy for me to write, but it would not be easy to do, I understand where you are coming from – worry is in our nature, especially with our children. Just try and have some worry free minutes each day. Linda
