Hi, I’m Lisa, my family and I live in the upstate of South Carolina. This past year has been our first year of homeschooling. As I was very unsure of myself, I purchased boxed curriculm for my girls (k5 &6th grade), now that we are nearing the end of our first year I’m seeing my mistakes, played out daily with my 6th grader, and I know that something has to change. It probably should have changed shortly after we began but $$$ spent were $$$ unable to be used again.
After reading the book, For The Childrens Sake, I JOYFULLY stumbled across your website, and have been planted in your pages for the past three weeks.
The Hubby is begining to wonder.LOL
I am planning to attend the April 26th seminar in Char.,NC and am looking very forward to it, as I have SO many questions.
I want our next school year to be a much better experience than this one. We are all about ready to throw in the towel at this point, WORKBOOK BURNOUT, and its sad to see that what I had hoped to accomplish with homeschooling is NOT what I ended up with. Not to say it has all been bad, it has not, the girls and I love what we are doing, we just need to do it a different way, my bet is on the CM way.
Thank you for all your information. I look forward to talking with all of you more.
Welcome Lisa, I am also new to CM and felt the same way at the middle of this year. This is my 2nd yr. These woman are truely a gift from God. They are always right there answering my (numerous)questions and everyone gives great feedback.
I am still learning but am totally at awe at how my 5 boys have responded just in the last 3 weeks with changing a few things that I could. They actually still smile at me by the end of our day and what mom doesn’t like to end school and know that they still love me even WITH doing school!!
Thanks Ladies. As I sit here at 5 mins. befors 1 in the morning (I’ve been pricing the books I will need),Amazon is a blessing (used books), I truly do feel we are headed the right direction. I have started the girls on some copywork with their Bible verses and they are loving working on the same thing at the same time. Very happy with it. I’m going to try some narration with my 11yr old next week. I want to begin changing some things now so that it won’t be to much at once next year. Keep your fingers crossed. LOL!
