Hello Home Educators! This is our first year with Charlotte Mason. We have a 13yo, 4yo, and 9 month old. Of course, the method is being used fully with our teenager. Below is my 13 year old’s schedule for Term 1. All lessons are 30-45 minutes long. My question is… Do you think it is too much? Since we are new… I have no real gauge. She has left a private school that we love, but wanted her to be more challenged and we wanted to “educate the whole child”. She is very bright and feasts on books! She had an opportunity to observe a Classical Conversations Education and was sincerely convinced that Charlotte Mason was the way to go, which is what was already decided, but it is nice to get the teenager buy-in. Today was our first day… and it was great! However, she (and I) acknowledge the CM learning curve; we are confident that once we get into a rhythm that our experience will be amazing! Again, since we are new to the CM method, I have no gauge as to what qualifies as too much. Thank you for your kind comments. ~ God bless.

Hi and welcome Genita! I tried to read your post and get a good idea of how much you are doing but it is kind of hard without a chart as so many subjects are only done on certain days. You might get a better response if you post your schedule day by day so we can get an idea of how much time you are spending on school each day.

I have a 14 year old daughter and if I condense her school day, it would take a little over 4 hours each day. By the time I add in exercise, meals, chores, and lots of time for discussion, school takes us from 9 or 9:30 to around 3 in the afternoon.
