My name is Katrina and I’ve dabbled in CM and the use of SCM materials for a few years. Charlotte Mason’s philosophies, principles and methods resonate deeply with me and I am now implementing them as much as possible in our homeschool. My kids are 9th, 7th, 6th and 2nd. It is a privilege to homeschool these children and to learn about Charlotte Mason and the beautiful educational philosophy she laid down for us. Acquiring my own set of Charlotte Mason’s writings for a sensible price has proven impossible but now I’ve been able to buy them from SCM and I’m ecstatic! Over the weekend I organized much of the planning for our 2017-18 school year, utilizing SCM’s FREE planning tools, and put in a HUGE order to SCM for most of our subject materials. While I want to adhere as closely as possible to Charlotte Mason’s methods and spread the feast for my family there may be some ‘modern’ methods now and then ;). I’d like to give a shout out to the ladies at A Delectable Education. Their podcast is phenomenal and they are helping me to deeply understand Miss Mason’s work. What draws me to SCM is the high regard for Charlotte Mason and her work with a measure of grace for the modern homeschool family. 🙂
Thank-you Shafer and Smith families for an outstanding company and generosity in providing the free resources including the discussion forum. All of the materials we have used have been a blessing! 🙂
Welcome!! We have 2 DD, 8th and 6th grades. Our oldest is right-brained and deals with dyslexia amd dyscalculia. Homeschooling has provided the environment she has needed and we’ve seen a lot of growth this year. What a blessing it is to join and facilitate our children’s education!!
We have also found SCM and this forum to be a huge blessing. We have used different pieces of SCM curriculum as it fit our families needs through the years. They are wonderful!!
I would like to say thank you as well. My nephew is joining us this year. I was a little nervous before meeting with his mother to show her the curriculum for the year. She has taught in the public school system for about 18 years. Her response to our “open house” was to ask if she could be a student. She is excited about the curriculum and the books.
