My name is Jessica…I’m about to start my third year as a homeschooling mom, though both my husband and I were homeschooled all the way through. My first two years of homeschooling my little ones (ages 6, 5, 3 and five months) were just a hodgepodge of different resources and methods and neither my husband or I were very happy with it. But I heard Sonya speak at a conference this past weekend, and spent a LOT of time at the SCM booth…and I think we FINALLY found our homeschooling niche! I just placed our first order with SCM and I’m VERY excited about this upcoming school year. ☺
I’m also looking forward to learning from all of you! I’ve known about Charlotte Mason and some of her philosophies for a couple years now (and we actually visited Ambleside on our honeymoon…too bad I didn’t realize the significance then!), but am very much a newbie in regard to actual methods and practice. Any advice for a mama just starting down this road?
And quick question about the Enrichment Studies…I ordered Volume One to work on this year, but noticed that’s the only volume available…are there others in the works? Thanks so much for any info!
Hi, Jessica. It was great to meet you last weekend! We do not have a set number of Enrichment Studies planned, but I can say that I have more of them on my to-do list. 🙂
Thanks, Sonya…it was great to meet you as well! You have no idea how encouraging and inspiring your talks and materials were. Both my husband and I were homeschooled, but with very different approaches and we couldn’t really find good middle ground that we both were happy with in schooling our own children. I had known about Charlotte Mason and some of her philosophies for several years and really liked what I heard, but I needed to see how they played out in real life and I was very overwhelmed by Ambleside Online, so it never really went anywhere. But I walked out of your first talk on Friday incredibly excited as I knew that THIS was what I wanted. I shared it all with my husband and we spent a LOT of time at your booth where your husband was incredibly helpful and easy to talk to. My husband really liked the approach and methods as well and it was a HUGE weight off of both our shoulders to find something that resonates so fully with both of us. Thank you so much for all the work you put into providing this curriculum…I’m very excited about using it this upcoming school year!
