Hello everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself and say that I am happy to have found you. My name is Erin, I’m 35 and live in Cincinnati. I have four boys, ages 12, 6, 4, and 2. This will be our third year homeschooling. I have finally figured out that Charlottle Mason seems to be the perfect fit for us, and that we were already doing it somewhat. Lots of nature, short lessons, great literature and little busywork. My oldest has been a little more traditional since he was in PS until 6th grade but we are working our way toward CM. I am starting from scratch with CM with my 1st grader and KDG. Looking forward to learning from you wonderful women! (And any men if they are here.)
Welcome! I have 2 girls, 10 and 8, and have really been encouraged and found great info on this forum. I find CM to be more living than just a list to check off – though I must admit that there are many days that school has still seemed like a list of check offs to me. Again, welcome, and we look forward to gaining words of wisdom from you, too!
Welcome! I’m in Ohio too, about 2.5 hours NE of you. I also have a lot of boys (six boys two girls). They’re a lot of fun. We started out as a unit study family and now are Charlotte Mason influenced as well. Simply Charlotte Mason and this forum specifically have been such an encouragement to me. You’ve found a great place!
If you want to get a peek into some of our homes try clicking on our picture, it just may be linked to a blog. (I have two actually, one for homeschooling/family life and one chronicling our 7th child’s life with Spina Bifida and other major medical needs).
What is KDG? The acronym is escaping me at the moment…
Tristan, KDG = Kindergartener! I don’t know that that’s ever used, but I was on my iPad so I was being a little bit lazy. 🙂
I just started really looking in to CM at the Midwest Great Homeschool Convention last month, so I will have a lot of questions as I make plans for next year! This summer? HABIT TRAINING.
Welcome! I live in Alberta Canada with my DH and three kids. Dd 12, ds 9, and dd 7. Looking forward to getting to know you more. I have found SCM and this forum to be invaluable to our homeschooling. : )
Welcome! I have three boys ages 23, 10 and 10 (adopted from China four years ago.) We’ve been homeschooling for 18 years. We live on a 12 acre homestead in East TN (gotta get off of here, in fact, and go milk some cows.)
Ask away. These ladies have lots of wisdom to share.
Welcome, Erin! I’m in Ontario, Canada. Going into year four homeschooling – three boys, ages almost 11, 9.5, 7, and one girl, 4. Wonderful that you have found this forum/site. I have learned so much here, felt so much support and feel truly blessed to read and learn from so many amazing homeschooling families. I’m sure you will feel the same, and great to have you here!
Welcome! This forum is so great for advice and information I am sure you will love it here. I live in Wisconsin and our children are dd11, ds9, dd8, & ds6. We have been homeschooling for 6 years.
Hello! We are on the Space Coast of Florida (about 25 min south of the space center) I have 3 kids dd5, ds3, dd5 months. I love the women here they are so honest and seem to really seek God first in their homeschooling.
Thank you so much everyone! Wow, Misty 7 kiddos! I admire mamas with large families because I know how crazy mine is, especially with all boys. I will be listening to hear what it’s like schooling that many boys in a row.
Right now I am knee deep in “Planning Your CM Education”. I’m so much more excited about next year than I am about actually finishing this year! Ha
