    Hello All,

I am new to this forum and am currently doing a free trial of the CM on-line organizer.  So far I really like it.

I’ve been reading through quite a bit of information and am realizing that I have been a CM home schooler all along. (mostly).

We have been h.s.ing for 3 years my kids are 9, 7, and almost 4.

We use some workbooks, but more as intro into new grammar ideas or suggestions for spelling.  I try not to run our days from wk bks, but use them as a jumping off point.  Hopefully I’m on the right track!?

    Anyhow I have 2 questions:

    1)  I saw something mentioned about ‘module 4’ and other modules…I’m not sure what or how to use these or the purpose?  I’m sure it is on this wonderful site somewhere, but I’ve been doing so much research for h.s. and my own business lately that I think I’m computer blind..lol

2)My 7 yr old boy is smart…so smart, but he just doesn’t like “school”.  I feel like I should almost abandon everything and just read and do nature and crafts for a week, then maybe add some math next week.  Then just keep that going.

    What are your thoughts?

http://simplycharlottemason.com/planning/scmguide/history-modules-overview/ Here’s a link to the free curriculum guide which explains how history/geography/Bible is divided up.  It’ll explain Module 4.

Welcome, I cannot help much with the questions as I am homeschooling senior high daughters mostly the CM way, however, I wanted to welcome you and encourage you.  There are some amazing moms on this forum who will have loads of wonderful ideas for you – this is such a great forum, and Simply CM is a wonderful place to be.  If you go to the home page of Simply Charlotte Mason, you will find that Sonya has done an amazing job of recommending how to use the modules, she has a great DVD about planning your CM education, and in the blog she tells you how to get started.  I can highly recommend all her helps, she has done an amazing job.  There are also some free downloadable ebooks, so go over to her home page and have a rummage through, you are sure to find all you need.  Regards your little boy, I quite like your idea, when I took my daughters out of public school, we took a couple of months to get out of the school mindset, we just read, did crafts, listened to music and then added things a bit at a time, until we got into a routine we liked.  If I could start over, I would do CM from day one right through 12th grade – it is a superb homeschool method.  Again welcome and enjoy all that is on offer here – you will love it.  The organizer is awesome isn’t it, saves so much time.  Linda

    Ok, Thank you!

I’m slowly navigating my way around.  I just have too much on my plate right now!

I hope to make sense of everything and start some planning!

    🙂

Take your time, don’t stress and add a little at a time, don’t worry you have lots of time, and things will start falling into place quite quickly.  Enjoy your children and your planning, and try not to stress out, one step at a time, will work fine.  Blessings,  Linda
