New CM hybrid School

Hello all!

I am posting this to make you aware of  a new CM hybrid school in the Atlanta area , whose name is Imago Dei.  We will be offering a two day classical curriculum with Charlotte Mason principles. The main educator will be a mentor of mine, whose name is Sandra Weeks. Sandra is an educator of many years by trade and has successfully home schooled her three children. Her oldest daughter will be attending Agnes Scott College in the fall. 

This program will focus on real learning with a degree of rigor in terms of thinking.  Our school will focus on CM method which is not about busy work but creating focused lifelong learners who have busy minds. The development of character is central. The method is also literature-based versus being textbook based in grades K-8. It begins with training attention through intensely focused short lessons and the device of narration. Our heartfelt goal is to build a program with families who are committed to a classical curriculum with principles of Charlotte Mason. We will offer readings, workshops, and seminars to learn more about this approach which sees children as persons with a unique path.

Our school aims to be  focused on the life of the mind. It is holistic in that respect for children is paramount. It reflects, in general, trivium principles but with respect for 20th century research on child development and psychology. It’s foundation is Christian with Christ as the King. All authority is derived from God who loves us. Children begin to understand both God’s authority and his Grace based on parental modeling (or teacher modeling). Therefore, our responsibility is a sacred obligation leading not to a blinding and competitive rigor in our pursuit of academics but to an experience in healthy focused work leading to a delight in learning, resting in God peace. We are beings created in God’s image or… “image bearers”. It is called the “imago Dei”.

Lastly, we will be offering an informational open house at our school’s location which is : 5875 Peachtree Industrial Blvd, ste 300 Norcross, GA 30092. The dates of the informational sessions are June 21 from 7pm to 9pm, June 23 from 10am to 12pm, and July 14 from 10am to 12pm.
