Does anyone have their older children mark their own work? I would like that. I am a little afraid they might mess up something and end up deleting a record or something.
Also, let’s say I have a book assigned on Mondays and it didn’t get done. Will it show up on the daily schedule for Tuesday or will it not show up again until the following Monday?
Chores… if I make them as complete. Will they be gone? Do I have to enter 365 units?
I don’t have my kids mark their own work unless it’s on a printed copy, but my oldest is 8. The organizer is very user friendly and you can usually fix what you mess up.
If you don’t work on something when scheduled it won’t show up until the next time it’s scheduled. So if it’s only scheduled on Mondays, it’ll show up the next Monday. If it’s MWF, it will show up on Wed. (This is the ABSOLUTE greatest feature ever!!!!)
For things like chores and piano practice (things w/o specific lessons), I enter “Week” as my division and enter 36 weeks to cover the school year. I could not stand having too many boxes checked off, so this is my solution. This also lets me see how we’re doing week to week.
I have had my oldest mark her own work on the computer; she’s 10. However, I prefer to do it so I can keep track better.
When I had chores on our schedule, I would just checked “worked on” instead of finished. That way it would stay on the schedule and I wouldn’t have to add a bunch of divisions.
So, if I have a subject that I want them to do once or twice a week, I put it down as a week division. I put down they do it everyday and when they complete it, it will disappear for that week until the next week?
I want my 6 year old to have scheduled activities like boardgames, legos, tinkertoys and alternate which activities are done.
If I schedule them on specific days they will not get alternated if I miss a day. I can schedule them to happen after the other activity, What is the easiest way to do that?
What if I set up … let’s say art. I put in 20 days as dividers. I schedule it daily
I put in each divider Painting, Cut and Paste, Clay etc repeating as often as I want. Then it will automatically go to the next activity when we finish it. After we complete the resource Art. Can I reschedule it?
You’re getting good at answering your own question, hidngplace! Yes, you could put in a resource called Art with 20 divisions (maybe call the divisions “Activity” or “Project”). Then put your activities in the various divisions in the order in which you want them to appear. Schedule it for however many days of the week you want it to show up.
When it shows up on the Daily Plan, it would say something like “Art: Complete Activity 1, Painting.” When you did that one, you could check it off as Finished, and the next one would roll up for the next day: “Art: Complete Activity 2, Cut and Paste.” etc.
And yes, you can reschedule any resource as many times as you need to.
