My 9th grade daughter asked me for more books about WWII that are written in diary or journal format. She recently read and enjoyed “We Were Heroes: The Journal of Scott Pendleton Collins”. She enjoys the Dear America series. (She’s also read several Ann Rinaldi and Bianca Bradbury books and she reads very well.)
Any other ideas??? I drew a blank when she asked me, and I’ve not been able to get any ideas by googling.
This is not a diary-type series, but there is a series about WWII that was written by Bodie and Brock Thoene called The Zion Covenant. It has 9 volumes. They are not hard to read (except the war parts just because, well, war & its very nature) and I learned more about WWII than I did in school. It tracks the movement of the war through each country in living book form. I highly recommend them. The first book is called Vienna Prelude.
Things We Couldnt Say. One of my all time favorite books. Written by a dutch Christian who was part of the underground helping Jews. She tells of some amazing ways God shut the eyes of soldiers so they could get by them. Lots of miraculous victories. Beautiful story.
