Thank you Jessalee, I did see that. Do you know what ages the books are for when they are under Physical Science and the others? Are those for the older grades ir 7th and up?
The book suggestions under the categories General, Physical, etc. are recommended for 7th grade and up.
Keep in mind that none of the living books lists, including those for elementary grades, are comprehensive. They are only suggestions of books Sonya or I have read and can recommend. Use them as a place to start and to get a feel for good living science books, but feel free to read any other books you find on science topics that may interest your children.
I was just looking at Ambleside Online last night and under their science recommendations they have some books listed for reading. I liked the sound of them and wrote a couple down to look into. Each year is listed on the left side of the page so just click on the year you want. Then I looked under the detailed curriculum that they offer.
Hopefully that will give you some ideas.
I wanted to thank you ladies so very much. I’m sorry that I haven’t been able to respond to each of you. I am taking in all that you have all said and looking at links and books…. if I think about how it was for me in school with science, I SOOO don’t want to duplicate the same for my children. We have the greatest classroom outside, don’t we?! I need to take advantage of it especially when my children are young and let them explore and search out what they are interested in. They have been learning far more that way and on their own, which is what I really want, right? For them to have that joy and love for learning. Thank you for all of your encouragment, I think I am ready to use nature study as my science :-).
