We’re halfway thru early American history (not actually module 5, but same timeline) and my girls are almost finished w/ their leisure reading books. I need more.

We’re currently studying Ben Franklin & Amos Fortune, and then we’ll study George Washington and Sacajawea.

Leisure reading books they’ve read so far: Almost Home, Madeleine Takes Command, William Carey: Obliged to Go, Calico Captive, Carry on Mr. Bowditch, and Caddie Woodlawn.

Any ideas what else they could be reading while we finish up the year?

Don’t know the ages of your kids, but here are some things we have on our list:

    Indian Captive (already done)

Johnny Tremain (we’re in the middle of this)

    The Sign of the Beaver

some freebies I have on my Kindle:

Broad Stripes and Bright Stars by Carolyn Sherwin Bailey

Boys and Girls of Colonial Days by Caryolyn Sherwin Bailey

Days and Deeds by Gertrude Stone
