Need Help Fast…Best Telescope for young boy

    My son is having his bday party on Sat. It was a last minute plan…long story. Anyway, he wants a telescope and I do not know what to get. I’d prefer something on Amazon if possible. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    One thing to keep in mind has that many low-end telescopes try to appear better than the others by advertising high magnification. In real use, magnification by itself is meaningless but the size and quality of the optics are very important. A really cheap scope will be a frustrating experience and will not get much use in the long run.

    I bought the Orion SkyScanner 100mm TableTop Reflector Telescope for my ds 10 for Christmas. We have enjoyed viewing the stars and the moon with it. As a mom I love how sturdy this one is. When I was a kid I had a tripod one that would move if I just bumped the scope while trying to view something, very frustrating. The Orion doesn’t move at all after being adjusted and it’s very easy to swap out the eyepieces. It’s also small and easy to store. I think this is a great beginner scope but I also like all the other Orion products too. I bought mine on Amazon cheaper that what was listed on the Orion website. HTH
