My niece is wanting to watch Frozen with my kids. They already think we won’t let our kids watch anything ’cause most of what they see is not worth watching. What is your review on it? Would you let your kids see it or not? Why or why not? They are wanting to watch it this evening. Thanks

I have found familymovieguide.org to be more conservative a review than PluggeIn or Dove. We gurad what the kids watch, but this is one I was planning to let them see.

I tend to avoid most modern Disney films, but I was pleasantly surprised by Frozen. Girls are modestly dressed. Family ties are more important in the end than romance. Plenty of slapstick humor from the snowman and reindeer.

We actually watched it last night with my 7 yr old son. I thought it was very cute and appropriate. There is some”puppy love” in the movie, but the act of “true love” in the end was suprising, refreshing, and I felt sent a very good message. I would recommend this movie.

Based on what Doug and others said, I’m totally fine with my kids watching it. Dh and I plan to see it soon so we can keep up with all the songs and lines my children quote all the time!

We saw it and really enjoyed it! I was concerned that it was going to be another “Tangled” since the characters looked so similar, but I was pleasantly surprised. “Frozen” has some great teachable moments you can use in discussion. I did not realize until someone pointed out later that it is loosely based on “The Snow Queen” by Hans Christian Andersen. The music is extremely singable and powerful. I loved that it didn’t stress a boy/girl relationship (although there is one) but rather the sister bond. If you get a chance to go definitely join them. This will allow you to discuss the movie afterward and relate it to truth.

The only thing that really bothered me in this movie was in the scene at the trading post. The fellow that owns the store says something about meeting his family in the sauna… scene cuts to the sauna and there is another man and children in there. For this reason alone, I wouldn’t own it. My kids didn’t catch that (only my 23 year old who had seen it before).

We were one of the exceptions and didn’t really like it. There were parts that scared my kids (though they are very young) and I didn’t really like the magic in it. The good in the story line was a bit deep for young kids and we just really weren’t all that impressed.

I almost never take my kids to the movies, however, I did take them to this one. I was relieved to see the love story was between sisters instead of the usual disney fast-lane love story. My best friend had taken her daughters before us so I did have a bit of a clue. The whole entire movie is about the “magic powers” that one sister has. I found myself constantly saying “this is make believe” and “God alone has the power to control the world”. My 6 yr old dd understands the difference, thankfully. My advice is just to stick to your convictions about what you want your daughters to see/not to see. I gently encourage you to NOT let what others think of you determine your actions. Our job as parents is to please God in our decisions, not other family members. Did you ever let her see it? What were your thoughts?

We saw this yesterday. I did enjoy the movie, although I had my typical reservations about why the characters need to have faces proportioned that way (huge eyes, petite noses etc), and I felt that when Elsa was in her ice palace all of a sudden she seemed to walk in such a sultry way. In general we enjoyed it though. I will say there were a couple previews of other movies that I can’t say the same about! One was down right frightful!

Frozen was actually the first movie we ever took our kids to see i a theater. And the previews made me consider that it might the last. They were horrible!

I hate movie previews. Maybe have dad go in and save easily accessible seats then text you when the previews are over. You slip the kids in and enjoy the movie?

When we very rarely go on a movie date I always think to myself “the previews are way worse than the movie I’m going to see”.

Yuck. I can’t think of a worse movie out recently. All you need to see is what is played in the commericals! Disney girly/princess movies are so predictable.
