Need a new book series for DD12

    DD12 has just finished reading Tolkein’s Lord of the Rings trilogy in a two-three week period and LOVED it! This wasn’t assigned reading, so she devoured it. I will likely suggest she reread it slowly in the future. 

    She wants a new series now. I’m thinking the Borrowers might work, but I’m open to other suggestions, too.

    I asked my daughter who is 13 and also read LOTR when she was 12.  She said:

    Viking Quest series

    Narnia (you’ve probably read that, though)

    Kingdom series and Knights of Arrethetrae by Chuck Black (highly recommended)

    Thanks! She’s read the Hobbit and Narnia a few times and they are family favorites, but i will look for the others.

    What about the Redwall series? Anne of Green Gables series. Little Women and Little Men. Fablehaven is a newer series that we’ve enjoyed.

    Not a series, but my dd is enjoying The Little White Horse by Elizabeth Goudge.

    How about the Swallows and Amazons series, Tales of the Kingdom trilogy, or The Chronicles of Prydain series? These are all loved in our family as well as Redwall.

    I was thinking of the Anne of Green Gables too – you can get the whole set (I think) for $0.95 on Kindle right now.

    I need to examine my reading skills – sorry, you said she’s read those. But for whoever else might want to know…Wink
