Our church is doing a one day VBS-type outreach for inner city kids.  The theme is God’s Kingdom, with a Middle Ages, castle motif.   I’m in charge of crafts.  We’ve been on vacation and just got home, plus we need to leave again for a wedding, therefore I have at the most two days to pull this together.  Any wonderful ideas?  Please??

Depending on age, popsicle-stick puppets are always easy and fun for the kids to take home and replay stories. Look for some easy cutouts online of whatever you will discussing. Have children color, cut, and paste to the sticks. Maybe even do a story with them to give them some ideas of storyline.

    HTH!

    ages?

Get the small pizza boxes donated – have them glue felt/flannel to the inside – it makes it a flannel board.

have them colour pictures that go with a story..   use clear “map tack” to cover/laminate them…  glue on sand paper or prickly side of velcro to the back….

Now they have a story board, and the pieces for the story – and it all gets stored in the board box….

Make shields out of cardboard – discuss haraldry a little bit, let them paint their shields.

If you can get a lot of plastic milk jugs / water jugs – they can be cut to make helmets.  (depends on sizes of kids’ heads)
