I’m looking for a nature living book for my ds. Although we try to fit in nature study, I find it challenging in the colder months. So I’m looking for a nature type book for him to read that is sciene related but focused more on nature.
My middle boy loves nature readers and we are reading An Extraordinary Life, the Story of a Monarch Butterfly, which we love, that I could pass on to my 8th grader.
I probably have some books on my shelves I haven’t considered yet but I thought I’d try here first.
There are lots of science videos online as well. If you are using Apologia’s Exploring Creation, they have links to videos that go along with each chapter. We’ve been watching lots of online videos.
We’re also having a tough time with nature study this winter. Most of our time outdoors is spent shoveling snow! I can’t remember the last time I saw a bird or animal outside (aside from our dog)…and our trees aren’t looking so good either!
Thanks ladies! I will look into those titles. And, I don’t think I have the Storybook of Science but I’ll have to check.
@HollyS, are the links in the textbook or at their website? He does watch alot of videos on youtube and we have the cdrom for that text w/ the pronunciation, etc., but more online videos that are in line w/ the text would be great!
If you go to http://www.apologia.com/bookextras it tells you where the password is located in the books. Each lesson has several external links. Some are for videos or sound clips and some are related websites.
