At our local library yesterday, I was delighted to see a child’s nature collection on display.  And it got me thinking — what kind of boxes could I use to display our daughters’ finds?  Those shadow-type boxes seem expensive.  And yet, if my girls were to put their finds (feathers, teeth, bones, etc.) in a box, with a label, I’d be much less likely to throw the nature finds away.  And we could remember what each thing is and where we found it.

So.  Can you help me? I need ideas for how we can collect nature finds and display them without breaking the bank and without too much clutter.  Links for picture-ideas and stores would be helpful.

    Thanks!

We have several display boxes from The Private Eye website. They are small enough for the kids to put in their pockets. Mine are very young so they are perfect for their little hands. My favorite is the “Box D” which is about 3″ square. We did a nature study in the fall filling it with small leaves and plants of various colors. It was neat to see how it came out. I blogged about it here (scroll down to the “Science / Nature Study” heading:

That company sells wonderful loupes too which are great for looking closely at your specimens. You can buy the boxes here:
