narration with 6 year old

    My son is 6 this year and I just started adding in narration after reading aloud.  He gets frustrated because he has so many questions about what I just read—indepth questions, not surface level understanding questions.  Should I require his narration first or answer the questions and discuss the text first?  Thanks!

    I would discuss it first, I think, because it will help reinforce what he is trying to learn from it.  If he really has questions, then he is lstening enough to want to “get it”.  Once he does, his narration will make sense to him.
