Narration – should I always read aloud?

I’m just working out how to do the whole narration thing as we’ve just started home educating having removed our 7 year old from school. I’m fairly well aquainted with the main Charlotte Mason philosophy, but am struggling to know if I should be reading aloud the books to her for her to narrate back to me or should I be expecting her to read them to herself? And if I read aloud, when does it change?

    Thanks!

You would read for now, then slowly switch her over as she grows. I think typical is to switch them to reading more of their own books in 4th grade as ready, but with SCM there is always a family read aloud for history at least, so you’ll still be reading aloud at least one thing all the way through.

Thanks so much. That’s really helpful.
