We are Filipino speakers .My kids are 12,7 and 2 yrs old. How should we do narration if our books are in English (Sadly we don’t have much living books in Filipino). Should I translate the stories in our language or read as it is? My kids are not yet fluent in English, although they could slightly understand basic English conversations, Should I let them narrate only in our Language or ask them to try to narrate also in English . Thanks in advance.

If it were me, I’d have that narrate in Filipino. It’s easier to understand a second language than it is to speak it. As they become more fluent, they can start narrating in English.  Kuddos on raising bi-lingual kids! I speak Spanish and have only recently found a way to get the kids learning Spanish!

I agree!  Have them narrate in Filipino while they are still learning the English language.  What a gift that they will have both languages!
