Narration Idea & Question

So I just came across this really cool idea for creative writing – where you give the kids cards as you learn new techniques, and they use these as cues to add different things into their writing…and for each technique they use, they earn coins for….the idea being that they earn coins due to the amount of effort they put into their writing project.  (here’s a link to check them out – http://www.creativewritingmmc.co.uk/home.asp)

I was thinking about trying this for narration – since my kids sometimes like to give the absolute bare minimum when asked to narrate….but I’m not sure what kinds of ideas to use for the technique cards….any ideas?  I like the kids to do written narrations in a scrapbook, so I’m thinking maybe some of the cards would be:

– Diagram/Drawing

– Retelling

– Answering an opinion question

– Looking at cause/effect
