I am probably making this more complicated than it needs to be but when you do narration with your kids, do YOU read aloud to them and then they narrate or can they narrate what they have read out loud to you?
Also, it seems like what my children are able to read aloud is a few levels higher than what they can narrate back to me. Is this normal?
IN answer to your second question, I would venture to say yes, it’s normal; but with more experince, the gap will close. It took between 1 1/2 -2 years for oral narrations to “catch up” with their reading ability. I started mione when they were 7, BTW.
Does thatmake sense? It’s a very advanced skill and takes time.
Same here as in Rachel’s house 🙂 Also, narration can be quiet a learning process before mastered. My DD 7 just stared 2nd year of hs and still struggles a lot with narration, she seems to have difficulties with auditory processing. Her narration is better if she reads then when someone else reads. My DS 6 just started hs with us last week and narrates like a pro! So I think there is no one size fits all standard for how fast children learn to narrate. 🙂

I feel MUCH better! Thanks so much. CM methods make total sense to us and they seem to be truly the best methods of education. I am still struggling a bit with implementation but gradually getting the hang of it. I am still having to unlearn the methods by which I was taught in public school.
