  • I just got this huge volume. I should have bought it years ago, but chose smaller picture books instead up until now.

Do you think it would be ok to have my 10 and 11 year olds read a page or two a day and narrate them to me? It would take two to three years to get through it, unless they picked up the pace a bit, but I really want them to digest it.

We get outside quite a bit, but I am having a hard time getting them to really become engrossed in something enough to want to learn about it. We are working on the habit of concentrated attention, really seeing, and not just ignoring all that goes on around them.

    Crazy idea?

I guess I was thinking that maybe having some knowledge first would help spur on their interest outside. So far building tee pees and forts is the only thing I can get them to do without prodding.
