My SCMO is seriously behind (a.k.a., bad CM mama, bad CM mama!)

I have been a bad CM mama, and Organizer Protective Services could hack into my computer and take custody of my SCM Organizer at any moment! Life and the holidays took over, and I have been neglecting my SCMO. Go ahead….laugh if you will at my lack of frugality for making monthly payments on something I have not logged into for quite some time.

Soooo…..we do not have to keep specific attendance records in our state, but I do still want a record of what books we have finished when May rolls around. Any ideas on how I should go about “catching up” with what we’ve done? I don’t even think I have all of my resources in the organizer, but I dread the idea of spending a lot of time on the computer trying to recreate the past few (several?) weeks’ assignments.

What would you do if you had begun using the SCMO for 3 months and suddenly took a trip to a non-internet-based planet, but you did manage to find enough light to read by for a few hours a day???

A piece of paper and a pencil are starting to look good right about now.

When I first started using the organizer (ages ago) – I entered what I had done for the year so far (About 6 months worth) at that time.  I didn’t worry about what days they were done (I think I put a “day” note saying that the work on that date was done over a period of time.)

Just take some time and get the books in, and up-to-date – but don’t worry about what date anything was done.

I’ve been (and am) guilty of the same, though I am required to show 180 daily logs. A quick fix for me will be creating a “Holiday Unit Study” resource with no divisions where I’ll add an assignment note describing different things we’ve done, such as baking, studying the names of Jesus, caroling, family read alouds, etc. I’m choosing a start date of Dec. 1 and will check “worked on” each day M-F through the month. I’ll add books finished separately and use suzukimom’s advice for how to handle that!

If you are not legally required to keep track day by day, I wouldn’t check off days for anything (we’re not and so this is what I’ve done when I’ve gotten off track).

I’ll just open up the organizer and in the top notes section, explain that while we have been diligently doing school since such and such a date, I have not been keeping up with the organizer.  Then I’ll go through and just click finished for every chapter we read (so if you do a report it will look like you finished 20 chapters in one day, EXCEPT that you made a note at the top correcting that record). And then when all the chapters are done, I click on finish the resource.

Also in the notes section I will add any other books we’ve read or items I want to have recorded.  And then NEVER get more than a week behind again!  Laughing

I use a good old paper & pen planner so I can’t offer any advice, but I wanted to say that you, Sue, totally crack me up!
