  • When she was four, my dd “overheard” her sister’s poems and ended up memorizing a few that she still often quotes. She is 5 now, and we started Emily Dickinson a couple of weeks ago. She came to me last night and said “Hey mom, listen…I’m nobody, who are you?” …and continued the entire poem perfectly. It is so cute!!

Poems really speak to the heart don’t they?! I am hooked. 🙂

I looked through a book of Dickenson’s poetry and didn’t “get” any of them!  May just be above my head having not had a lot of experience with poetry.  We’re liking W. Wordsworth, however!

There is a great child’s illustrated poem book of Emily’s poems (select ones) that is done tastefully with a few “uncertain” words defined at the bottom of each page. It is perfect for us.

I don’t have access to it and can’t remember the name. I can pm later you if you think you want to try reading her poems again.
