my boys don't read for pleasure

My boys were both reluctant readers. Both would never have chosen to read without me insisting. It was an effort for years to teach reading. 

They did like to listen to me read aloud though. I just read harder and harder books. Afterm a while I had them read a sentence, paragraph or page then I would read the next. Working up to more and more each time. Once I found they were fairly proficient with reading and we had a book that they were super excited to hear more of I would say “Oh I am super busy tonight and can’t read it to you. You can go ahead and read that chapter if you like.” Both of them took of with reading the rest of the book and I haven’t been able to keep them in books since.
