Hi, y’all! I’m just piping up to ask each of you to keep my family in your prayers. Our home was severely damaged by the tornado that came thru our town (Shuqualak) on Thursday. My husband was in west Texas on a business trip, my oldest son working, and I was home with my 6 younger kids huddled in an under-the-stairs closet as the tornado passed over. Praying. :0). God kept his merciful hand upon us and everyone is safe. My husband drove 14 hours straight home because he couldn’t get a flight…so we are all together now. We are staying in a motel for the time being, but hope to make different arrangements after we meet with the insurance adjuster tomorrow. We live in the midst of pine plantations and woods, and it was several hours before family, friends, and workers could get to us. I don’t guess I have ever been so scared in my life. When I opened the door of the closet, peered outside, and all of my trees were down and shingles and roof were all over the ground, I was shocked (and a little bit hysterical). It shifted walls, and blew out a door, but so much damage was caused immediately after the tornado when the rain was pouring in the damaged roof, and soaked both levels. The water was literally raining down all thru the house, especially thru the lights on the ceilings. Goodness… This post is so disjointed! Thank you in advance for your prayers. Some of our belongings are ruined, but we hope to salvage a good bit. We are safe, and fed, and dry…and for that I am eternally grateful. God bless you all!
Oh, Alana! We have been thinking of all the families down your way, remembering the devastation of two years ago. So thankful you are all OK. Praying you get settled soon. God is good.
So thankful your entire family is ok. We went through a similar situation several years ago and I know how exhausting and overwhelming this is. Take one day at a time, remember to be thankful in all things and try to focus on the future because at some point everything will be cleaned up, organized and life will be stable again.
