    Hi,

We are planning to move in the first part of Feb. and I need some help/support figuring out how to do this!!  I have chronic pain as well, so my time/energy is limited.  I have three high schoolers, one senior and two 9th graders.

The 9th graders are set for math, science and foreign language.  But I need help with the rest for 2nd part of the year.  We just finished Middle ages for history, using Tapestry of Grace in CM fashion but know I can’t do that again.  Too much work!!   I was considering having them do government with their older sister, since she needs a credit for that.

My older daughter I can figure out and get a few things put together that she needs for graduation, except I need something for personal finance.  Any suggestions there??

I guess I just need help from people who might have been there, or who have suggestions on how to tame the schedule for high schoolers, at least for the first part of 2nd semester, until the move has been completed.  Like how much do I expect from them?  From myself?

    Thanks for any advice!!

Math-U-See’s Stewardship course is something your daughter could go through on her own, but definitely make sure you get a copy of the most recent version.  We used an older edition that we purchased at a used book fair, and we had to add to it and have a few additional discussions to update some of the information.  For example, there was a chapter that discussed cell phone usage and budgeting for it, but plans have changed a lot since that edition was published, so some of the information and worksheet/test questions were not very useful.

I’m not sure if there is a better course for personal finance (maybe something through Crown Financial Ministries or Dave Ramsey), but those would be worth looking into as well. I just know from our personal experience that the MUS Stewardship could be done independently.

The Dave Ramsey “Foundations in Personal Finance” could be a self-guided course, if your daughter is motivated to complete it on her own.  I am doing it in a co-op setting with a group of five teens right now, but because there is a workbook and DVD presentation, there is little teacher preparation.

Life of Fred has a Finance book too.

Life of Fred also has Language Arts  high school books that would be a nice filler around move time.

To simplify history,  maybe you could choose a few living history books and have them read and narrate those for move time.
