Hubby’s coming home late, dinner is in the oven – so I’m planning to have a movie night with the kids. Can you give me some G or PG rated mpvies or TV shows for ideas?  We have netflix and Prime and access to youtube if that helps.  And I have 12 years and younger crowd.  Laughing  Thanks!!

Old episodes of Leave It to Beaver or Dennis the Menace are favorites around here.

Hachi (so, so good, but be prepared to cry)

    The Lorax

    Heidi (with Shirley Temple)

    The Many Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh

    Holes (We think it’s great!)

    Prince of Egypt

I just watched Kon Tiki and thought it was good.

We just had a movie afternoon the other day.  I decided to try to find winter movies or Olympics movies.  The four choices were:

Chronicles of Narnia:  The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

    March of the Penguins

    Cool Runnings

    Miracle

We ended up watching Cool Runnings (rated PG), which was funny.  My kids really enjoyed it. I wasn’t too happy with some of the language, though.

Thanks everyone!  We ended up watching Leave it to Beaver, which is our go to for movie nights.

But just wanted to recommend a movie that my hubby and I watched last night called Gifted Hands – The story of Ben Carson.  It’s the true story of Ben carson, who grew up to be a brain surgeon at John Hopkins. It was wonderful and what I would consider family friendly.  No language, 2 scenes of violence before the boy cries out to God to help him control his temper, and a brain surgery that doesn’t really show much – some blood on his hands, the sound of the bone saw, scenes of her skull open for maybe 5 seconds – mostly they just show the Dr. and the OR surroundings.

    Hope you guys enjoy!

Don’t forget Chariots of Fire in your Olympics line up.  Probably boring for younger set.  Missionary Eric Liddell’s olympic story.
