  • Anyone seen The Agony and the Ectasy? I figured with that title, I’d better be careful! Wink

I would have to say you should check it out first. Michelangelo did paintings and sculptures of the naked body. It seems like most of his work was like that. Back in the day they had a fascination with naked bodies since they were suppose to be covered. So my opinion would be don’t let the kids see it. I am sure it isn’t a “G” rating. Embarassed

I’d watch it first, not knowing what your family guidelines are.  But we let our kids watch it when about 8 and 11.  It’s very well done.  The only two scenes I can remember that you might want to fast forward are one where two people had been in bed.  Younger kids probably wouldn’t catch what’s going on, but it’s a lady with covers over her lying in bed and a (clothed) man hiding nearby.  No nudity. One other scene….I can’t remember….maybe he said ‘making love?’  But we have a picture of Michelango’s creation (that we got in Rome!) hanging in hubby office…so if that would bother you then you might not like the movie.  But I don’t remember any paintings that were offensive.  It’s mainly about his work on the Sistine Chapel, so paintings are biblical messages….very worth seeing IMHO:)  Gina

Thanks for the input. I guess I will just preview it first, like you said.

According to Netflix this movie was made in 1965 and it is not rated. I’ve watched it but I don’t remember if it is suitable for young children. Depends on the age. It may be not as interesting for young ones but I think it would be great for teenagers.
