The 100 day challenge is probably what you think it is… a challenge to practice 100 days in a row.
I have seen it suggested online on various sites….
However, in our Suzuki Group (which has several teachers) they have most years done the challenge at this time of the year. They didn’t last year (trying to save money?) and I think the teachers noticed the difference. Our first couple of years, those that did the challenge got a little trophy, and those that did a lesser challenge (75 practices anytime in the 100 days I think it was – something like that) got a medal. As I mentioned, last year they didn’t do the challenge – and nobody completed the 10-10 challenge (having 10 songs that they and the teacher rated as a 10 and they played for someone… My oldest got 1 song checked off, it was too hard.) This year those that do the 100 day challenge will get a medal, and those that do a 50 day challenge (50 days in a row) will get a certificate.
There are various certificates and practice charts available on the internet… we have up on the wall 3 different charts with 100 things to color in.
Our teacher suggested that the parents should pick something to do for 100 days in support….
Dana’s CM quote of changing our thoughts reminds me of an old comedy spoof of Bob Newhart acting as a psych doctor. After the patient tells him their mental problem, he says, “Well…. just stop it.” 🙂
I just wanted to add something that might encourage if you have a few minutes to watch…
