Ok ladies, you’d think I’d have the perfect thing for morning sickness being my 7th time with it. But I still don’t. So what have you done that’s worked? And oddly and thankfully it’s more in the evenings then in the mornings. Any advice would be great! Misty
Each one of mine have been different. For my 1st son, I would wake up and drink a whole glass of very cold water. This would make me throw up immediately and then I would be able to eat just fine.
For my 2nd I was sick no matter what until 3pm, so I tried those preggo pops and they didn’t work. The cold water didn’t work and neither did eating crackers in bed. I don’t count days and so it was cute the way I found out I was expecting. I woke up one night and wanted a snack, so I got some chocolate pudding and pickles. The next night I did it again, in the middle of taking a bite I thought about this….Wait a minute. Yes, sure enough, I was about 2 weeks past my courses.
For my 3rd I would have to eat before being sick and once I was sick I was fine the rest of the day. Unless I read aloud. For some reason reading aloud to the boys made me either nauseous or fall asleep. We used a lot of books on tape that year. I tried applesauce or cottage cheese, something that won’t hurt coming back up. The cold water feels the best. I craved jalapenos with her.
I suffer from motion sickness when I travel and morning sickness for the first 3.5-4 months of my pregnancies. For years, I used the little wrist bands with plastic balls (for acupressure) and while they helped somewhat, it wasn’t enough. When I was expecting #4, I discovered the Relief Band. It is like a little wrist watch that sends electrical impulses into your wrist and somehow resets the part of your brain that makes you nauseous. It’s rather expensive at about ~ $130, but I figured it was worth a shot. I am SO VERY GLAD I bought it! It made me ~95% better from morning sickness. I would only have occasional mild bouts. I wore this thing every waking moment for 3 months and had no ill effects. It is an odd little shocking sensation, but I quickly learned to tune it out. I will happily take the odd, shocking sensation over the constant nausea any day!
I suffer from Hyperemisis (crazy morning sickness), and B6 shots helped a lot. The B6 pills didn’t help me. I also took Zofran. Constant drinking of cold water helped too – especially early on. It helpedme not to get sick as often.
Keeping a peppermint candy in my mouth at all times did help some. Otherwise, I just tried to keep my stomach from being empty and that didn’t even help all the time. I couldn’t re-eat what I just threw up, so I’d have to have a variety of things to snack/eat on all day so I could have something different to eat. Bleh!!
Now, I’ve been pregnant 6 times and have 3 blessings that made it out of the womb and suffered morning sickness for 3-5 months as well. Needless to say, I could never do it again. I hand it to those that can have more than I did and homeschool. I just couldn’t do it again and I’m one that REALLY wanted kids, but now I’d rather adopt then go through the morning sickness. God Bless you.
I wanted to tell you that I’ve been pregnant 6 times and had morning sickness 4 times-the other 2 times I had miscarriages. So I learned to be thankful for it. I guess it has to do with enough hormones or something. Keep praying; it’ll end someday. That doesn’t sound like much practical help.
Actually, my morning sickness was in the evening with some of them too. I went to bed as early as possible, and I tried not to be away from home by the time I knew it would start. Sometimes we would be visiting at my parents and have to spend the night, because I could NOT get in the car! Funny when I look back.
Raw almonds seem to help my stomach no matter why it feels bad. Good luck!
I never had terrible morning sickness, praise the Lord! The only time I ever felt really sick was if my stomach was really empty, like in the morning. I always kept saltine crackers and water next to the bed, and sometimes I would eat a few crackers before I even tried getting up in the morning.
But, our chiro says that ginger tea and peppermint tea both help alleviate nausea. I also think the peppermint candy would help too.
And who knows? You might just have to ride it out until it’s over. Oh the joys of pregnancy!
Thanks everyone for the advice. I will have to try to the pepermint, the frozen lemonade and thoug the wrist thing sounds great don’t have that kind of $ right now. Also, crackers just make my tummy feel icky, eating to much definately makes me sick and moving to fast. So it’s the slow and easy like for me for awhile. misty
