I have been perusing the forum for anything and everything on the Sabbath Mood science guides. I have a 12yo who did Beautiful Feet History of Science last year. She liked it at times, but 0verall she is reluctant to do just about anything but has an interest in science. She wants to do botany, astronomy, fossils and physics this year. I was considering Apologia General Science because my older daughter and son both LOVED the biology and chemistry books; however I’m dealing with a different beast. She has a fairly short attention span (which we are slowly working on)and is a reluctant writer. The SM science guides look like something she can handle–small chunks of info with activities each week–on her own. I like that it is already planned out. I have read concerns about the quality of science instruction and some of the content in the assigned books. Is this a guide that I can adjust as needed? We probably won’t do the astronomy guide because I wasn’t thrilled with the book selection, looking elsewhere for that. However, now that people have had a chance to use the guides, I’m looking for some reviews. Do you have any other suggestions that may be similar to Sabbath Mood? Thanks so much.
My son is on his second year with the SM guides and he really enjoys them, with science being his favorite subject. There is evolutionary content in the spine books, but she addresses those from a creation point of view in her guides. Since this is an old post you may have chosen a different curriculum, but if you’re still considering SM then I’m happy to answer any questions you have. 🙂
