I’m pulling together books/resources that are recommended to use with 106 Days for my 7 yo and 9 yo sons.
Are the Moody videos absolutely necessary? I’m sure they add wonderful content, but will we get a solid view of the subject matter without it?
I’m trying to get what is needed without breaking my budget. 🙂

106 Days was my absolute favorite science curr. to do with my boys!  Loved it!

Not sure about the videos as far as necessity, I’m sure you could find some alternatives on youtube, but they are good. I do have several of the videos, but they are VHS. I’d be more than happy to sell them as my boys have outgrown these 🙁

Well, VHS won’t work for me, but hopefully someone can use them! 😉

I wouldn’t say they are essential, but my DC enjoyed them.  Library and Ed had the best price on these when we did 106 Days a few years ago, and I think they still carry them.

If budget is an issue, you could add in some youtube videos…just make sure you preview them first.  You may even be able to find the Moody videos online.  It seems like I found one somewhere through a google search, but it wasn’t on youtube.

I too am considering doing the 106 days of creation  but not sure if my oldest is too old for it.  I have 10yo that reads nonstop, 7yo (almost 8), 4.5yo and 20mo.

I really struggled with science over the past years and seem to always start something and never finish it.  I have most of the Young Explorer’s books from Apologia but seem so wordy and time consuming.  I’d much prefer SCM resources but I’m worried I missed the boat with my oldest already or that I’m not giving him enough “meaty” science.!

Any advice will be much appreciated!

    dl-mackenzie,

106 Days of Creation Studies combined with Considering God’s Creation will be enough for your oldest. In the elementary years you are laying a foundation of science that will be built on in more details in middle school and high school. 106 Days of Creation Studies will give all of your children an overview of general science topics ranging from the properties of light to some basics of the human body.

If you think your oldest would benefit from it, you can also add in more living science books on topics your oldest might be interested in. I would not assign those, but help him choose books from the library on topics he wants to know more about and have him read those in his free time.
