  • How long do you spend on each lesson per day? Could I do double up in one day on a lesson for my older students? I know the lessons should be “short” but could we get 2 lessons done in 45min.?

I’m needing to get through Module 1 & 2 overview this year

    2nd yr. do Module 3

    3rd yr. do Module 4

For 5 & 6 we might not  do but use a different US History.

I think it’s not uncommon for those who are trying to move SCM’s 6 year rotation into a 4 year rotation, they do the Bible portion and the history portion as two different subjects.  (So basically doubling up)  We will be doing that next year on Module 2, because we fell behind on Module 1.  Hoping to finish Module 1 first term, and then squeeze Module 2 into the next two terms.

Cyndi I did the Greek unit this last year with 2 girls, 10 and 12. We did double up lots of the history lessons. I only had the one girl for 2 days of the week so we would do one day all history and geography. I liked it, they liked it too. Then I would assign one novel to each of them to read, and I would read aloud from a third, and I would usually do the ‘spine’ read alouds as well. They would do written narrations on the computer ( because doing so made it quicker and easier for me!) Sometimes I would send the 2nd girl home with readings to finish on her own, then come back and tell me but she rarely did it- so it was almost all done one day a week and we easily got through 6 – 10 lessons..( execept where the reading was dry, then I would read more of the interesting read aloud!) This year I wil only have her for 1 day a week so I am still trying to figure out how to make it work..I might have to assign her more reading on her own, with narrations done for me when she comes. I am still figuring that part out..
