The scripture memory system on the Simply Charlotte Mason website has been very effective for our family over the years. We use cards from Well Versed Kids (Navigators–out of print) and also add in verses from church, our co-op, and devotionals, etc.
I wanted to share that you can create the same system from the Simply CM website on a mobile device using the Google Keep app. Keep is similar to a colored post-it like version of Evernote.
Simply use a label for scripture memory and use the same titles as instructed on the SCM website when you make your notes.(Daily, Odd, Even, Days of week, numbers 1-31) I prefer to set a reminder for the daily verse and archive the others. When you search by label, all the scripture memory notes you made will be on the screen together–just like having a file box.
Takes a little bit of time to set up but using Bible Gateway or the like is helpful. I am just adding as I go and use our file box for what isn’t up yet. I love having the verses on my phone and they sync to computer or any device.
I have not transferred in our monthly verses yet but I have been brainstorming. I was thinking that as you gather more verses you could add seasons to your monthly verses. (Fall 1-31, Winter 1-31 and so on.)
I am very excited to finally have a way of implementing this wonderful system in a digital format and I just couldn’t keep it to myself!
P.S. I also use Google Keep for making school checklists, to do lists and prayer reminders, recipes, you name it. Labels help keep it all organized even when you archive something. I can also share lists with my kids so they can update Keep when they complete work. I have also figured out that I can share things to Evernote which is great for my hubby because he is passionate about Evernote.
Disclaimer: I am NOT a naturally organized person. I have no connection to Google. I am just a CMer at heart in my ever ecclectic homeschool.
In case any one wants a pre-made solution, we have been using Scripturebox.com and I love it. We get daily emails with the memory selections for the day all ready to go. Each of my kids is working on different selections, so we have separate “Boxes” set up for everyone in the family and each gets their own email. It costs $5 per year to help with their costs, but that $5 covers all of us and is well worth it to me. (Not affiliated, I just love it.)
LOVE Scripturebox, too! I’ve been using it for a couple of years now. I know we wouldn’t get our memory work done without it. You can choose your own passages or choose from the SCM passages which are preloaded.
