I’d suggest some poetry from Langston Hughes and Phyllis Wheatley and introducing your oldest to King’s forebearers (of which there are good, young people bios available from Russell Freedman, Cheryl Harness, others) such as:
You’re welcome. I don’t know if any of these are written in a way to promote propaganda for certain political movements, using MLKJr. for their own purposes, so use your discretion when reading a book about him.
Unfortunately, many children’s books now-a-days do that type of thing (see post on Berenstain bears concerning anti-bank messages). Instead of presenting characters with principles, they indoctrinate with what and how they should think.
