We’ve liked starting w/the Hero Tales series. It’s a great intro. w/questions at the end and a bible verse (which I prefer to look it up personally because I can’t stand partial verses!). I’ve heard similar stories about Missionary… Millers. That it was good, but had to be edited depending on the ages of the children and personal views, but good stuff just the same.
Also, you could have your 8 yr. old read an account on her own. For personal reading The Adventures from around the World series is age 7-12 (at Timberdoodle and G & T and Amazon )and the Trailblazer series is 9+ (if she reads on that level, the words are sorta small, though). The Jungle Doctor series is 10-12. If you go to the Timberdoodle site, you can request a catalog, then you can see all their missionary and devotional books. Grace and Truth had many, too. The links are above. I like G & T, alot of great books to choose from, not just missions but much in character training.
Timberdoodle has a new missionary story from Iran; “Tales of Persia” for 9 and up. I received a YWAM catalog the other day and as Cheryl mentioned, they have wonderful missionary biographies; lotsa meat in them. Maybe you could get a catalog from them as well.
