I read on another thread about the Pocket Microscope from hometrainingtools.com. It looks great for the price, but I was wondering if there would be more benefit to getting a microscope like this one I found advertised on Amazon.

My daughter is 10, but not high academically. Probably the pocket one would be more beneficial for nature study, because we could carry it with us:) I just thought this one on Amazon looked good for the price.

We have that microscope from amazon and it is great. It is not like “toy” microscopes. It really works. Apparently the important parts are made with metal and the less vital parts are plastic. This is how they keep the cost down. I bought it afterreading the many rave reviews online. It is just as good as the ones we used in high school, though not quite as heavy.

I am glad I saw this. I have been looking at getting a microscope from homesciencetools but the one I want is so expensive for us right now. My sister got one 10 years ago but said she wished she would have gotten one that had higher magnification and that if I got one to make sure it was good enough for high school too. Which made sense to me because would I really be able to afford another one in a couple of years? For me it is a one time purchase. Is this really as good as it sounds?

Are there any cons to it?

    Thanks!
